Oh goodness, where to start?! I’ll begin by explaining how I got into the charity sector. Here goes…

My love of the charities began when I was very young. My parents used to put their spare change in a charity box on the hallway windowsill, and I loved counting it up when it was full and helping my mum send off a cheque for the same amount. The charity sent us newsletters about their work, which I enjoyed reading. My mum also used to get sent little change envelopes from a few charities. My sister and I would deliver them to our neighbours and collect them up in a week or so with a pound or two in them. Even at that age, I could see the impact just a little support from several people could make.

For my birthday, my parents would often adopt me a horse from Redwings Horse Sanctuary, a charity I still support now.

Fast forward a few years…

I started volunteering at a charity supporting disabled people in Worcester. That led to a part-time paid role at a different charity, which I loved. I left that job (and Worcester) to move in with my now-husband, Darren. Although I stepped out of the sector for the next few years, I knew it was where my heart truly lay.

Fast forward some more…

I founded Tabby Tiger in 2018 after I felt it was time to move on from my role in a large charity. I loved my job, worked with an incredible team and made some wonderful memories, but my role was so big that meeting people’s expectations became impossible.

The name of my business came from one of our beloved cats. Tiger was one of the three moggies Darren owned when I met him. I’ve never had favourites, but Tiger was like a shadow so I’m sure if he’d been around when I went self-employed, he’d have been right by my side. Possibly on my keyboard, too. The cat in my logo represents Milo, who we lost just a few days after his fifth birthday.

The charity role I mentioned encompassed copywriting/content creation, comms, press, PR, marketing, social media, brand management, sponsorship and events. I have a wide range of experience, but writing is my favourite thing to do as you will see on my services page.
